This kit and pattern were created by The Quilted Windmill to celebrate the grand opening of the new store location at 812 Main Street, Pella, Iowa in November 2025.
The selection of delft inspired colors, the center “windmill” block and the broken dishes block reflect Pella’s Dutch heritage. The broken dishes block honors the courage of Maria Scholte, the wife of Pella’s founder Hendrick Peter Scholte. Most of her delft dishes were broken when she opened her crates when her new home in Pella was finished in April of 1848.
